An overview of activities at Quaker House during the CHQ season

Saturday –

4pm – 7pm – Guests arrive! Unload baggage and groceries and begin the settling-in process. Tours of the house and grounds are offered. Schedules and pertinent info about QH and CHQ are handed out.

Sunday –

9:30 – Meeting for Worship at QH

4:00 – Wild Church – sponsored and led by QH for those interested.

6:00 – Common Meal (Participation expected – but FUN!) This time allows all guests to meet and greet each other over a meal supplied by Quaker House.

Monday – Friday

Programming around the grounds begins early each day and is all self-selected. Experiences come in the form of lectures, classes, demonstrations, performances, and informal discussion groups on a variety of diverse topics. Chautauqua creates free weekly schedules that detail nearly every event taking place on the grounds each day. – We’ve yet to hear a guest utter the words…”there’s nothing to do today”. Each day is yours to design – so be sure to add in time for R&R!

We understand that part of the reason guests choose the QH is because they value the community that forms here through conversations that arise from QH programming – both formal and informal.

  • Monday – Creating in Community – Artmaking for all ages!

  • Tuesday – Friend of the Week; “Faith in Action – One Quaker’s Work in the WorldLunch discussion

  • Thursday – Friend of the Week; “One Quaker’s Perspective on the Theme of the Week” Lunch discussion

Friday Evening – “MUST GO” (clean out the fridge) night for all who want to gather and share their leftover food and their new memories.

Saturday – Guests end where they began. Hauling suitcases and heading towards their destination. We will wave goodbye knowing that the impact of our new friends will linger here far beyond their departure.
